What You Will Experience
This trip will cover over 1200 miles and 25 hours of drive time all along the coast, through the Baja Peninsula, the Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve. You'll be amazed by the huge Cardon cactus forests and dramatic mountains along the way. Camp on a volcano, explore prehistoric rock paintings, Spanish Missions, beach front camping, whale watching and more!
Our full service Base Camp will be set up for you in a unique location every night surrounded by epic views: Camp on top of a volcano overlooking the ocean, Spend a night underneath petroglyphs on rock formations, sleep near the Sea of Cortez, camp next to historical Spanish Missions, spend an evening at a private ranch in the desert, end the trip with a luxury hotel stay in North Baja Wine Country.

Meet Your Guide and Your Chef
NATHAN STUART
Moving to Mexico at age 18, he traveled extensively through Baja and Central Mexico for 12 years. Now 41, Nathan has 23 years of experience traveling and overlanding throughout Mexico and Central America. He learned how to move comfortably through foreign & developing countries. In 2021 he returned to Mexico full time to co- found and guide with Legends Overlanding. Nathan is also fluent in Spanish, obsessed with Baja history, and his life’s goal is to spend as much time as possible exploring every mile of the West’s most wild places.
ALEX BURGOS

Alex grew up and studied in Ensenada, Baja California getting a degree in culinary arts. He then went on to work in Valle Guadalupe, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Spain, and Columbia. Now, back in Ensenada, Alex is part of the Legends Overlanding staff as our in-camp Chef. He will be helping us experience the places we visit through taste with the amazing cuisine he prepares for us daily!

10-Day Baja Adventure with Legends Overlanding
SCHEDULE
DAY 1
BEACH CAMP
We will meet in Calexico just north of Mexicali on the US side of the border. Lunch on the beach of the Sea of Cortez as we head south. Our first night we will stop in Bahia San Luis Gonzaga (about 6 hours from Calexico) for the night and camp along the beach on the beautiful Sea of Cortez.
DAY 2
ROCK ART
Breakfast on the beach, pack up, and drive another 5 hours south through the center of the Baja peninsula and the Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve. We will have lunch in the desert on the way south. We will see huge Cardon cactus forests and dramatic mountains along the way. Ending the day camping in the desert below a rock formation with petroglyphs. Dinner under the desert stars.
DAY 3
SAN FRANCISCO BORJA
Breakfast in camp and then a packed lunch to go out and explore the rock paintings in the morning. We will then head south 2-3 hours through the desert to the Mission San Francisco Borja. We will spend the afternoon and evening exploring the mission and learning the history of the most northern stone Spanish mission built in Baja. We will have dinner and camp next to the mission that evening.
DAY 4
TO THE COAST
Waking up next to a Spanish Mission, we will have breakfast in camp, grab another packed lunch as we head south west about 4 hours out of the desert to the Pacific coast of Baja and the town of Gerrero Negro. Dinner on the water.
DAY 5
THE WHALES
Breakfast in camp and a packed lunch. Whale watching boat rides and exploring the salt flats around Gerrero Negro will fill the day. Dinner on the beach back at camp.
DAY 6
THE DEAD SEA OF BAJA
Breakfast in camp and head out with a packed lunch. Whale watching boat rides and exploring the salt flats around Gerrero Negro will fill the day again. Dinner on the beach back at camp.
DAY 7
INTO THE DESERT
Breakfast in camp, pack a lunch, and head back North. After 5-6 hours we will arrive at Catavina and spend the night in a cabin on a privet ranch in the desert outside of town. Dinner surrounded by beautiful desert fauna.
DAY 8
EXPLORE CATAVINA
Breakfast in camp and then a packed lunch to go while we spend the day exploring more of the central desert around Cataviña. We'll see all this landscape has to offer, from cave paintings to amazing rock formations, and more. Dinner in camp under the stars.
DAY 9
TREAT YOURSELF
We will have breakfast in camp pack up lunch for the road and drive another 4 hours north getting us close to the US border. Time to treat ourselves to a nice hotel and dinner in the wine country of northern Baja.
DAY 10
VAYA CON DIOS
After breakfast at the hotel we will lead you across the US border making sure you are safely in San Diego before saying our goodbyes. We try and have our customers across the border by 2 pm, giving them plenty of time to catch a plane
or get a couple hours of driving in.
