Many of the trails in this training are designed for use by stock (unmodified) vehicles. Your vehicle must have 4-Low, and at least one front and one rear recovery point (frame mounted tow hook, or hitch receiver).

Aside from a good attitude for exploration, adventure, learning and hanging out with like-minded folks, bring your stock (unmodified) or modified 4×4 Adventure Van with 4-Low, rear recovery point (i.e. tow hooks or hitch) and at least 8″ of ground clearance.

Vehicle must be street legal, registered, insured and drivers must have a valid license. Call us with any questions.

Optional primitive camping in your Adventure Van at NORA’s Ellenville onsite camp area is available at no charge. There is a community fire pit and a port-o-san. There are plenty of local lodging options as well (not included with class fee).

In order to maximize training experience, we will keep our group small and intimate at 5 vans total. A minimum of 2 vans is needed for the training to go forward. 

Day 1: Catered dinner provided

Day 2: Continental Breakfast from local bakery and lunch will be provided

Day 3: Continental Breakfast from local bakery. Class will end after 1pm. 

This class is an excellent choice for anyone wishing to learn safe, low speed off road driving techniques used in Overlanding and recreational/commercial off road driving. This class is for people with experience levels ranging from none to intermediate.

We allow pets, however, pets must be on leash when outside your vehicle. Pets are not allowed in any of the buildings. Keep in mind we do have bears, coyotes and other critters. Squirrel!

It’s unlikely that your vehicle will be damaged on our beginner or intermediate trails. We teach vehicle and people preservation, specifically we train you how ‘not to’ damage your vehicle with instructors and guides walking alongside you. Our Ellenville trails are regularly groomed back to minimize the chance of ‘pinstriping’ from tree branches and shrubbery and our driving speed is around 2-3 mph. We have worked with thousands of guests with very few issues. All that said, damage is a possibility and we will do our best to mitigate that risk.
