Step into one of Canada’s most scenic and historic overland routes as we explore the legendary Columbia & Western Rail Trail and surrounding backcountry of British Columbia’s stunning Okanagan region.
This professionally guided 3-day backcountry excursion will take us along portions of the iconic Columbia & Western Rail Trail route - a ribbon of rail-to-trail history winding through forests, vineyards, lakes, through tunnels, and over dramatic trestle bridges high above the valley floor. Originally built in the early 1900s, the Columbia & Western Rail Trail is now one of the most sought-after adventure routes in Western Canada.
BACKCOUNTRY VAN EXCURSION

Over the course of the weekend, our experienced local guides will lead us through a curated selection of scenic backroads and historic rail grades, huge tunnels and trestles, sharing insider knowledge, route guidance, and hidden spots that most travelers never find on their own. Expect a relaxed but adventurous pace designed for overland vans, with plenty of stops for photos, exploration, and soaking in the landscape.

Who This Is For
This excursion is ideal for 4x4/AWD adventure vans comfortable on maintained dirt and gravel backroads. No extreme rock crawling - just incredible scenery and thoughtful route planning through some of the most iconic western Canada scenary.
Space is Limited
To maintain a high-quality guided experience, participation will be limited to a small group of vans.

Led by Ken Gallant of Director of Training for Tirion Safety, local SAR training manager in Cranbrook, Kimberely SAR senior member, Search & Rescue Association of BC rope rescue, snowmobile, avalanche trainer, Recco airborne search trainer and much much more. A wealth of local knowledge.
